Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, December 30 (Reporter An Xiaomeng) Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the 30th and adopted a measure to impose sanctions on the DPRK, so as to implement the UN Resolution 2270 on sanctions against the DPRK.
The Russian legal information website issued this decree on the 30th, covering the prohibition of providing aviation fuel and jet engine fuel to North Korea, as well as materials, equipment and technology needed for developing nuclear weapons, prohibiting the import of gold, coal, iron ore and titanium ore from North Korea, and confiscating the funds, financial assets and economic resources found in Russia related to North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile projects.
The decree also prohibits the export of luxury goods to North Korea, including crystal products, billiard tables, high-end watches, yachts, some sports equipment and snow shoes worth more than 2,000 US dollars.
Following North Korea’s announcement of its fourth nuclear test and launch using ballistic missile technology, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2270 in March, stipulating a series of sanctions against North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs, and reaffirming its support for resuming the six-party talks and realizing the denuclearization of the peninsula through peaceful means.
