Since January 1 this year, 332 aquatic life reserves in the Yangtze River basin have been completely closed to fishing, and from January 1 next year, fishing in key waters such as "one river, two lakes and seven rivers" in the Yangtze River basin will be closed for 10 years. In some areas where protection started earlier, the effect of ecological management in the Yangtze River basin has gradually emerged, bringing about the frequent appearance of rare animals.

Carry out ecological restoration and build urban green lung

In recent years, the Ministry of Water Resources, together with relevant departments, has urged nine provinces and cities along the Yangtze River to carry out the clean-up and rectification of shoreline utilization projects in the main stream of the Yangtze River. As of October this year, the Ministry of Water Resources has investigated and identified 2,441 projects suspected of violating laws and regulations on the coastline of the main stream of the Yangtze River, of which 2,414 have been cleaned up and rectified, and the remaining projects have also formulated rectification plans and defined the completion time limit.
Along the Yangtze River, ecological restoration and comprehensive environmental management in the Yangtze River basin are also being strengthened, and green ecological corridors are being built.
On the Hukou section of Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province along the Yangtze River, on one side is the magnificent Wanli Yangtze River, where thousands of search ships pass by every day. On the one hand, there is a tree-lined and lush Jiangtan Park, and people are here for leisure and exercise along the way. And a few years ago, there were still many factories, bare loess and random construction everywhere. In 2018, Jiangxi Province launched the three-year campaign of "Great Protection" in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Focusing on building the most beautiful coastline of the Yangtze River, Jiangxi demolished 74 docks and 87 berths along the 152-kilometer section of the Jiujiang section of the Yangtze River, closed 183 mines along the Yangtze River and more than 1,000 small scattered enterprises, while more than 100 unqualified enterprises were also rejected. Correspondingly, 138 high-tech enterprises settled along the Yangtze River.
Co-governance of one river and collaborative governance for good ecology
In 2019, among the 509 water quality sections monitored in the Yangtze River Basin, I & mdash; Class III water quality section accounts for 91.7%, and the water quality is excellent. Behind this, it is the synergy of "playing a good game of chess and governing a river together" along the coast. Wuxing District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province and Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province are about four kilometers away from each other, and there have been many environmental problems in the border area for a long time. With the continuous advancement of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, in recent years, the two sides have broken the barriers of administrative jurisdiction, actively explored the ecological environment governance mechanism of co-construction, co-governance and sharing, and investigated and dealt with a large number of environmental violations.
Industrial upgrading and transformation: less pollution and more benefits.
Along the road of ecological priority and green development, the Yangtze River Economic Belt is growing into a new force leading the high-quality development of China’s economy. In 2019, the GDP of the Yangtze River Economic Belt exceeded 45.78 trillion yuan, up 6.9% year-on-year, 0.8 percentage points higher than the national total, accounting for 46.2% of the national total.
